NIL FOR ALL

01

WHAT IS NIL?

In 2021, NCAA regulation changes allowed student-athletes to profit off of their Name, Image, and Likeness (N.I.L.) while maintaining eligibility. When these new changes took effect on July 1, 2021, a new era of college sports began and a new industry was created overnight.

THE PROBLEM

Early trends in NIL reveal significant problems that remain unaddressed. First, existing solutions nearly exclusively cater to the elite Power 5 programs and their athletes, widening the gap and weakening overall competition in college sports (see statistics above). This leaves smaller colleges/universities and their student-athletes lacking equal sponsorship access. Additionally, local businesses that could be supporting student-athletes at neglected schools have unmet demand to align with student-athletes and loyal, hometown fanbases.
